[Hands on Review] Motives by Loren Ridinger – Luxe Precision Eye Line

Hi girls (and guys)!
First, I would like to thank everyone who read and supported my previous review.  I really needed the support!!
I hope everyone would have forgotten how I look without makeup by now

This time, I’ve decided to do a review on eye liner.
I guess I do not need to emphasize how important an eye line is to girls.
We all know a good eye line works magic to our eyes.

As a typical Chinese, I have the flap of extra skin over my double eye lid… which makes it hard for my eye line to stay put.
To make it even harder, I have oily lids.
I have always had troubles finding the perfect eye liner that will stay put all day.

I have tried NUMEROUS eye liners.
I’ve tried pencil, gel, liquid, felt tip liquid… You name it, I’ve tried it.
Before I learned about this Motives Luxe Precision Eye Line, gel eye liner was my favourite.
Easy to use and control, and generally it stays longer than the others.
I do not really like liquid eye liners just cuz it doesn’t look as natural (just personal preference).

For the gel liners, I’ve tried many brands.
I’ve tried MAC, Clinique and other Japanese brands.
I would say out of all that I’ve tried, I was most satisfied with the MAC gel eye liner.  But it’s still not the one that would make me want to re-purchase.  The product dries out too fast itself!

Till one time, my sister-in-law lend me a Chanel felt tip liquid eye liner.
I really liked it!
It was easy to control.  The eye line did not stay the whole day but it did stay for quite some time.  I was VERY pleased.
*Note – I never purchased the Chanel one as I was struggling if I should pay so much for an eye liner. Haha

TILL ONE DAY at a Motives product session, I learned that the Motives Luxe Precision Eye Liner (the one in SILVER in the picture) has the SAME formula as the Chanel felt tip eye liner.  The only difference between Motives and Chanel was that Motives used even better ingredients!

HOW CAN I NOT GIVE IT A TRY AT THIS PRICE POINT????????

Although the silver tube has now been discontinued… or should I say re-designed?
The black one in the picture is the newest and most current Luxe Precision Eye Line.
It is bigger in size, and with an improved formula and ingredients!

I APOLOGIZE for such a long intro, but I really do love this product a lot! Hahaa

SO, WHAT IS IT?

A felt tip liquid eye liner!

On the website:

-       Waterproof, long-lasting formula
-       Velvet touch precision tip for accurate application
-       Will not scratch, tug or slip

It even contains Hyaluronic Acid, which is a moisturizing agent that is found in good quality skincare products!

TEXTURE?

It has a felt tip that feels very gentle on the eye/skin.

Very easy to use and control.

I use the colour in Jet Black and the name says it, the black is provides is jet black! lol

THEN, HOW TO USE?

Just open the cap and you’re good to go!

If you’re looking for tips on how to draw an eye line, feel free to message me!
I’m more than happy to share my experience with all of you!
I just don’t want to type too much in a review J

RESULTS?

A well-defined eye line that lasts WHOLE day.

It stays on the whole day with no problem~

Some testings I did was to wear this eye line while exercising.
I’ve tried it several times to make sure I’m not just “lucky”. Haha

What kind of exercise?
30 minutes of cardio that includes martial arts, kick-boxing, dancing, aerobics/figure-robics etc.
I sweat CRAZY from it.
Results?  Pretty consistent.  The eye liner did not smudge/chip at all.  Not a single tiny bit!

THE PROS?
- The black it provides is a truly dark black.
- Easy to use and control.
- The felt tip feels very gentle on the eye.
- Most importantly, the eye line stay put the whole day.  Even during and after sweaty exercises!!!!

THE CONS?
- With the OLD version, the product does not last.  After about a month, the product is basically all gone.
- With this NEW version, I cannot say how long the product can last as I have not had this product for too long.  I’ve definitely used it for over a month, it definitely lasts longer than the old version…. But I haven’t used it enough to say how long the product can last.

SUMMING IT ALL UP!

I think this Luxe Precision Eye Line is even better than the Chanel one.
The felt tip feels luxious, it is very easy to use and it satisfies my biggest concern, an eye line that can last the whole day without smudging.
I would recommend this product to everyone, even people in more humid weather.

Thank you!!!!!

[Hands-on Review] MOTIVES by Loren Ridinger – Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

MOTIVES by LorenRidinger – Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover (US Link

Hi Everyone!  Here it is, my 4th review, and still counting.
As a review writer, I have promised my readers (and myself) that I am going to provide my most honest and neutral comments on the products that I have tried.
This can be tricky as I sell these products myself.
I have been questioning myself - Am I brave enough to tell my readers about the products that are not as good?

So here it is, a product that I don’t necessarily “like”, but I don’t “dislike” it enough to throw it away (well, plus I don’t want to waste it).
Take a look at this review either you have this makeup remover or not.  I’m also gonna share how I am going to use the bottle up.

What Do I Look for in an Eye Makeup Remover?

Simple but not so simple.
Something that is safe for contact lens wearers and safe for sensitive eye/skin.
Something that cleanse well and fast but not harsh as my eyes are quite sensitive.
Something that does NOT feel OILY!! I absolutely HATE that oily feeling on my face.
It’ll be a bonus if it soothes my skin.

SO, WHAT IS IT?

On the website:

·         Gently removes makeup without irritating the eye or surrounding skin
·         Formulated with antioxidants to support a healthy and beautiful complexion
·         Ideal for contact lens wearers
·         Paraben, fragrance and mineral oil free

  • Gently removes makeup without irritating the eye or surrounding skin
  • Formulated with antioxidants to support a healthy and beautiful complexion
  • Ideal for contact lens wearers
  • Paraben, fragrance and mineral oil free
After I have received the bottle, the first thing I looked at was the ingredient list.  And to my surprise, I know I will not like this eye makeup remover.  What are some of the ingredients that caught my eye?  Here they are:

Sesame Oil – Helps to keep skin hydrated while having cleansing properties for makeup removal.

Squalane – This one I like.  It’s hydrating properties that’s naturally present in human skin.

Rice Oil – Conditions skin and keep skin hydrated.

Argan Oil – If we know Moroccan Oil is good for our skin, argan oil is just the same thing.  It contains antioxidant and moisturizing properties to protect and moisturize our skin.

Chamomile Flower Extract – Contains powerful antioxidants and also helps cleanse, protect and sooth our skin.

Tea Tree Oil – We all know tea tree oil helps with acne skin.  It is good for cleansing, it has antioxidant properties, and helps to support a health complexion.

After reading the ingredients off the bottle, I was WOW!  But in both good and bad ways.
Good because this bottle of makeup remover is mainly made up of ingredients that are VERY good for our skin.
Bad because having so many different types of oil in the same bottle, I cannot imagine how oily this can be.

THEN, HOW TO USE?

This is how I remove my eye makeup.
I pour ample makeup remover on a cotton pad.  I personally use the Shiseido Facial Cotton that’s available at any Shiseido counters, Sephora or Shoppers Drug Mart.  They are on the pricier side, but these pads are very gentle on the eyes.

Also, we want to make sure we pour enough makeup remover on the pad to avoid over-rubbing around our eyes.

Then, I would place the pad (wet with makeup remover) and place it over my eyes IDEALLY for approximately 30 seconds.
I tend to run out of patience and end up only counting 10 seconds.
The purpose of this step is to let the makeup remover do its job in dissolving the eye makeup (less rubbing required after) and also let the skin our eyes to absorb benefitting properties that are in the makeup remover.

Like this makeup remover that we are reviewing.  As it has so many benefitting ingredients, it can act as an “eye mask” while it dissolves eye makeup.

RESULTS?

It does remove eye makeup, including very very VERY waterproof ones, but it takes time.
It is very gentle on the eye but it does not remove makeup as fast as how I would like it to be.
Although I know the ingredients are very beneficial, but I do find it on the oily side, which I personally dislike a lot.

Excuse the lighting and the posing of my hand.  I’ve never done this before.
I’ll do a better job next time. ^_^

I have placed the cotton pad on my hand for 20 seconds (I did not do it for 30 seconds as I know not everyone will leave it on their eyes for 30 seconds).

As the makeup remover did not remove all the makeup, I soaked another cotton pad and gently rubbed it on my hand.

THE PROS?
-          It has a LOT of benefitting properties in the makeup remover.
-          It’s safe for contact lens wearers.
-          It feels gentle on the eyes.
-          It does its job in eye makeup removal.

THE CONS?
-          No doubt this makeup remover has a lot of benefitting ingredients but I personally think it’s too much in a bottle.  It does not feel as oily as I’ve imagined, but it does feel oily and I hate this feeling myself.
-          It does not remove makeup as fast as I wanted (The first bottle of makeup remover I tried from Motives 1-2 years ago did an excellent job.  It was fast, clean and gentle.)

SUMMING IT ALL UP!

I have a mascara that I use only on special occasions.  It is water-proof, smudge-proof, oil-proof, swim-proof to a certain extent.  I put it on in the morning and it can last till night time and even through sleep with no problem.  It just stays on and do not come off.
I have always had a hard time finding a good makeup remover for it.  This makeup remover is able to remove this mascara but it takes time.

Motives by Loren Ridinger has been changing its Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover…. I wonder if they are still looking for a better one.

The 1st one I’ve tried from Motives around 1-2 years ago was my favourite one.  I actually used it all up and I miss it (it’s discontinued L).
Then they changed it to another one which I can say I absolutely hate and they got rid of this product within a few months from launching.  I bet too many people have complained! Haha

This is the 3rd one that I’ve tried.  It does its job but can be better.

It is good that the ingredients are so good for our skin.  It nourishes while cleansing.
I’d say, if you don’t mind the oily feeling, definitely give this a try.
BUT if you hate that oily feeling like me, skip this!

I am always hoping that they will bring the first one back.

BONUS – WHAT I DO TO USE UP A BOTTLE OF MAKEUP REMOVER THAT I DO NOT LIKE.
For the current version of the Motives Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover (the one that I wrote a review on just now), I can tolerate it to remove my eye makeup.
But for the bottle from before that I mentioned I absolutely hated, or for any makeup removers that you absolutely hate, don’t throw it away!!  You paid for it!
So what do I do with it?
I use it to remove makeup from my makeup brushes in between application!
And I use it to remove face makeup, and follow with a very good cleanser to wash them all off!

Thank you!!!!!

[Hands-on Review] Fixx Lash Extend

Fixx – Lash Extend

Hi Everyone!  So this is the first review I have ever written.  The purposes of my reviews will be to provide my personal testimonial and experiences, and to also provide honest and neutral comments of the products that I have tried!  Hope you will enjoy it :)

For my first review, I have decided to talk about Fixx Lash Extend (USA link).
Why?  Cuz most (or all?) girls (and guys!) want LONGER and FULLER lashes!!!!! and this is one of my personal favourites!

As a very typical Chinese girl, I have VERY short lashes.  Sometimes when I put on mascara, I still do not notice my lashes :(

This Fixx Lash Extend can be applied on your lashes and brows to increase their volume and length!!

I can only comment of the lashes part though.  I have full brows so there’s no need for me to apply it on my brow.

SO, WHAT IS IT?

On the website, the primary benefits of the lash extend are:
  • SymPeptide (Myristoyl Hexapeptide-16, Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17 and Myristoyl Pentapeptide-8) increases visible volume of lashes and brows by 25% in just 14 days for fast, dramatic results
  • Hydrolyzed glucosaminglycans promotes lashes growth
THEN, HOW TO USE?

Personally, I strongly recommend this serum to be used twice daily, morning and night.
I try to use this serum both morning and night.... but sometimes I forget and sometimes I don't have time to do it before I go to work in the morning.
BUT definitely, I use this every night before I go to bed.
It has a brush tip, you twist the cap to push the serum onto the brush, and you close your eyes and brush it on the roots of the lahses and wait for a few minutes before you open your eyes.

RESULTS?  FIRST TUBE:

For my first tube of lash extend, the tube lasted for well over 2 months!!!!!
One tube is one month’s supply, so obviously….. I used way too little...... Not a good sign.
To be honest, I did not see any dramatic results.  I think my lashes got a bit longer but I wasn’t sure if it’s some inner psychological thinking or if it is real that my lashes grew longer.
One thing I did notice for certain was when I was using the lash extend, I did not notice any of my lashes falling off when I remove my mascara!!
For this reason, I decided I should not stop lash extend and I should continue using it.

RESULTS? SECOND TUBE:

On my 2nd tube, I made a commitment to myself.  I should stick to using it both morning and night AND everyday… and I should apply a lot more of the serum!
So I did and magic came!
My lashes got VISIBLY longer just after the first week! And after the second week, when I apply my same mascara, I noticed my lashes grew fuller as well!!!!!  WOW!
After that, I started getting compliments from close friends around me!
People noticed difference in my lashes!! ^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^
One compliment I will never forget was one day, when I was having lunch with my mom:

Mom:  What did you do to your lashes today?
Me:  (blank and lost) ????? Nothing??
Mom:  Your lashes look different.  Did you put on some fake lashes?
Me:  ?????
Mom:  I see reflection of your lashes.  I see shadows on your lashes beneath your eye!!  It looks so cute!
Me:  (super excited and had this huggeeeeee smile on my face) REALLY?????

And I immediately took my mirror out to look at my lashes (and the shadow of my lashes) and started telling almost everyone about it!!!!

THE PROS?
- This lash extend really does work!!!!! It gave me longer, fuller and healthier lashes!
- It’s not only a lash extend that lengthens and gives volume, but it is actually a serum that fortifies each of your lashes!  I rarely see lashes falling off when I remove my mascara now.

THE CONS?
- It takes time to build a habit of applying lash extend every morning and night (especially morning when I’m in a rush to go to work).  It can get annoying.
- It is hard to tell if you’re using enough or not.  One tube is one month’s supply, I never knew I was using too little until at least a month later when I realize I still have a lot of serum in my tube.

SUMMING IT ALL UP!

MUST TRY!  I think… it does not matter if you want longer and fuller lashes or not, but lashes need serum especially if you need to remove mascara.  Plus, it works!

Thanks for reading!
And as I mentioned, this is my first time writing a review.  If you have comments, please do let me know!
If there are any questions, feel free to ask as well!
