[Hands on Review] Motives by Loren Ridinger – Luxe Precision Eye Line

Hi girls (and guys)!
First, I would like to thank everyone who read and supported my previous review.  I really needed the support!!
I hope everyone would have forgotten how I look without makeup by now

This time, I’ve decided to do a review on eye liner.
I guess I do not need to emphasize how important an eye line is to girls.
We all know a good eye line works magic to our eyes.

As a typical Chinese, I have the flap of extra skin over my double eye lid… which makes it hard for my eye line to stay put.
To make it even harder, I have oily lids.
I have always had troubles finding the perfect eye liner that will stay put all day.

I have tried NUMEROUS eye liners.
I’ve tried pencil, gel, liquid, felt tip liquid… You name it, I’ve tried it.
Before I learned about this Motives Luxe Precision Eye Line, gel eye liner was my favourite.
Easy to use and control, and generally it stays longer than the others.
I do not really like liquid eye liners just cuz it doesn’t look as natural (just personal preference).

For the gel liners, I’ve tried many brands.
I’ve tried MAC, Clinique and other Japanese brands.
I would say out of all that I’ve tried, I was most satisfied with the MAC gel eye liner.  But it’s still not the one that would make me want to re-purchase.  The product dries out too fast itself!

Till one time, my sister-in-law lend me a Chanel felt tip liquid eye liner.
I really liked it!
It was easy to control.  The eye line did not stay the whole day but it did stay for quite some time.  I was VERY pleased.
*Note – I never purchased the Chanel one as I was struggling if I should pay so much for an eye liner. Haha

TILL ONE DAY at a Motives product session, I learned that the Motives Luxe Precision Eye Liner (the one in SILVER in the picture) has the SAME formula as the Chanel felt tip eye liner.  The only difference between Motives and Chanel was that Motives used even better ingredients!

HOW CAN I NOT GIVE IT A TRY AT THIS PRICE POINT????????

Although the silver tube has now been discontinued… or should I say re-designed?
The black one in the picture is the newest and most current Luxe Precision Eye Line.
It is bigger in size, and with an improved formula and ingredients!

I APOLOGIZE for such a long intro, but I really do love this product a lot! Hahaa

SO, WHAT IS IT?

A felt tip liquid eye liner!

On the website:

-       Waterproof, long-lasting formula
-       Velvet touch precision tip for accurate application
-       Will not scratch, tug or slip

It even contains Hyaluronic Acid, which is a moisturizing agent that is found in good quality skincare products!

TEXTURE?

It has a felt tip that feels very gentle on the eye/skin.

Very easy to use and control.

I use the colour in Jet Black and the name says it, the black is provides is jet black! lol

THEN, HOW TO USE?

Just open the cap and you’re good to go!

If you’re looking for tips on how to draw an eye line, feel free to message me!
I’m more than happy to share my experience with all of you!
I just don’t want to type too much in a review J

RESULTS?

A well-defined eye line that lasts WHOLE day.

It stays on the whole day with no problem~

Some testings I did was to wear this eye line while exercising.
I’ve tried it several times to make sure I’m not just “lucky”. Haha

What kind of exercise?
30 minutes of cardio that includes martial arts, kick-boxing, dancing, aerobics/figure-robics etc.
I sweat CRAZY from it.
Results?  Pretty consistent.  The eye liner did not smudge/chip at all.  Not a single tiny bit!

THE PROS?
- The black it provides is a truly dark black.
- Easy to use and control.
- The felt tip feels very gentle on the eye.
- Most importantly, the eye line stay put the whole day.  Even during and after sweaty exercises!!!!

THE CONS?
- With the OLD version, the product does not last.  After about a month, the product is basically all gone.
- With this NEW version, I cannot say how long the product can last as I have not had this product for too long.  I’ve definitely used it for over a month, it definitely lasts longer than the old version…. But I haven’t used it enough to say how long the product can last.

SUMMING IT ALL UP!

I think this Luxe Precision Eye Line is even better than the Chanel one.
The felt tip feels luxious, it is very easy to use and it satisfies my biggest concern, an eye line that can last the whole day without smudging.
I would recommend this product to everyone, even people in more humid weather.

Thank you!!!!!
Any questions or comments, let me know!!!!!
Also let me know what you wanna see next in my reviews!!!!!

PROPER TECHNIQUE FOR APPLYING EYE SHADOW

With a lot of buzz surrounding the new launches from Motives by Loren Ridinger and Motives for La La, it is easy to easy to get excited about the product and to forget the proper technique for using it.
When it comes to using the new Motives by Loren Ridinger or Motives Fall/Winter 2012 Runway Collection (US Link) palettes, you will need the proper tools to apply. Grab a clean Motives Eye Blender Brush (US Link) and Motives Primer Brush.
Using the Motives Primer Brush from the Motives 15 Piece Professional Brush Set (US Link), apply a thin layer of Motives Eye Base (US Link) from the lashline to the brow. Press the Motives Eye Blender Brush flatly in the eye shadow color you want to use and tap any excess shadow from the brush.
To deposit more color to the eye, press the brush with eye shadow flatly to the lid. If you find that too much color has been deposited or is uneven, sweep the color away with the Motives Eye Blender Brush that is free from shadow.
It is important to remember that even if a color looks intense in the compact, you can apply the color in a sweeping motion, rather than a pressing motion, to deposit less color so it appears less intense on your eyelid.
The best eye looks are smooth and well-blended and with the right tools from Motives, getting a great look is easy!

MASCARA TIPS

Mascara is the essential to any good look, but clumps, flakes and spider-lashes are not. Sometimes it is hard to apply your mascara and avoid clumps and flakes especially. Well here are a few tips on how you can minimize those annoying flecks and globs that come with your mascara.
The best way to apply mascara and to avoid clumps is to start at the base of your lashes and wiggle your brush upward. Some people like to twirl their brush while they are moving it up – which also helps reduce clumps. Remember –  always allow your lashes to dry before you apply a new coat. If you start to apply a new coat to already wet lashes you will get clumps and globs of mascara that stick – and those are such a pain to remove!
A trick to keeping your mascara’s usable for longer is to make sure that you don’t pump your brush in and out of the tube. Pumping your brush allows air to creep in and dry out the formula which creates clumps on the brush. If you notice that your brush has clumps or globs simply take an eye lash brush (like Motives Lash Brow Brush [US Link] ) and run it through your mascara brush. This will remove those unwanted globs and keep your brush fresh for each use.
Tip: Use a lash primer before you apply your mascara. A lash primer is the perfect formula to keep the clumps and globs at bay. Check out our blog on Motives Lash Primer (US Link) hands on review coming on very soon to learn more about why you should use and how to apply.
